Rhys Owen runs record time, raising £1,750 for STOP Suicide

CPSL Mind was incredibly impressed when Rhys Owen completed the Cardiff University half marathon in memory of his dad Kelvin.

CPSL Mind was incredibly impressed when Rhys Owen completed the Cardiff University half marathon in memory of his dad Kelvin. Not only did he smash his race time target, finishing the course in 1.39.44, but he also raised an enormous £1,750 in support of the mental health charity.

Rhys said, “Having lost my father through suicide 8 years ago and seeing the sad news of people losing friends and family on a daily basis on social media, I wanted to do this to raise awareness and try to stop people going through this horrific ordeal. I hope this money will be used to let people know they are loved and life is far too precious to take away from yourself, your family and friends”.

Zoe Doherty, Fundraiser for CPSL Mind said, “We are extremely moved and grateful to Rhys for all his hard work in training for the race and raising so much money. This donation will be put towards our STOP Suicide campaign, which empowers communities and individuals across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough to help stop suicides by being alert to the warning signs, asking directly about suicide and helping those who are feeling suicidal to stay safe. A huge thank you to Rhys for his incredible hard work and support”.
