Melbourn FC to virtually travel to the Champions League Final

During March, 27 players, family members and friends of Melbourn FC will take part in a virtual challenge to run or walk the 3,000km from their home pitch to the Champions League Final at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul.

During the month of March, 27 players, family members and friends of Melbourn FC will take part in a virtual challenge to run or walk the 3,000km from their home pitch, The Moor in Melbourn, to the Champions League Final at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul.

The challenge will take the team through 9 countries and they will be ‘calling in’ at some of the most famous football stadiums along the way. The team will use a tracker app to log all activity and there will be prizes given for outstanding achievements. Money will be raised by encouraging friends and family to sponsor them and the football club is hoping to raise £1,000 for us.

Chay Wilson, First Team Manager, said, “We understand the struggles of lockdown, lack of football, lack of socialising and how that can affect us. This event is to bring the MFC family together during these tough times and to support CPSL Mind in the process. This event is not just for players as partners, family members and friends of the club are all welcome to participate as well.”

Zoe Doherty, Fundraising Consultant, commented, “We are so grateful for Melbourn FC’s continued support of our work. Since the beginning of lockdown last year we have seen an increase in need for our services and in 2020 we provided more than 15,291 hours of one-to-one support to local people. We are very much looking forward to tracking Melbourn FC’s progress on their virtual travels to Istanbul and a huge thank you to everyone who has agreed to take part”.
