Fundraising is a piece of cake….or two

CPSL Mind was extremely impressed with the quality of the cakes Fiona Cumberpatch served at her pop up café in Stamford last month, raising a very impressive £225 for the charity.

Fiona said, “ I set up the kitchen like a cafe with a menu on the wall, borrowed a tea urn from a friend, and just asked for ‘pay as you feel’ so no one would feel awkward about not having enough to pay. Upstairs, I sold pots of jam and pickles that I’d made, and bags of homemade fudge. On the day, I had lots of help, my husband was on coffees, and friends took turns to wash up. It was lovely to meet people in my street for the first time. Best seller was definitely the toffee apple cake!”

Zoe Doherty, Fundraiser for CPSL Mind said, “This is exactly what fundraising should be all about. Bringing people together to enjoy good company and cake, whilst raising money for an important cause. So many people struggle with their mental health because of isolation and loneliness. Organising coffee mornings and cake sales are a brilliant way of bringing local communities together. This donation will go towards helping local people in their recovery from mental health problems. A huge thank you to Fiona for taking the time to organise this wonderful event and to everyone who supported it.”
