We’ve partnered with Barnardo’s and Raham Project to launch Mothers United for Maternity and Mental Health Action (MUMMA) scheme

CPSL Mind joins Barnardo’s and Raham Project to support antenatal and maternity care for Black, Asian and mixed ethnicity families.

We’re pleased to announce that we are working with Banardo’s and Raham Project on an innovative new programme to support antenatal and maternity care for Black, Asian, and mixed ethnicity families.

To address inequalities experienced by Black, Asian and Mixed Ethnicity parents, The Mothers United for Maternity and Mental Health Action (MUMMA) scheme will run throughout this year in Peterborough ahead of plans for it to be rolled out elsewhere across the UK.

What is MUMMA?

MUMMA is a partnership between Barnardo’s the children’s charity that protects and supports children and young people, Raham Project which supports ethnic minority families in Peterborough and CPSL Mind. It is for those who are planning a family, are currently pregnant, or have a child under the age of two. MUMMA also provides specialist help and support following the loss of a baby.

MUMMA will offer practical help, emotional support, and candid advice for Black, Asian, and mixed ethnicity mothers and mothers-to-be.

Lisa Gibson, Deputy Head of Services at CPSL Mind, said, “We are delighted to be working with Barnardo’s and the Raham Project to offer support to mums who are at increased risk during pregnancy. We have been supporting mums through our Connecting Mums courses over many years and look forward to delivering them alongside MUMMA Hub Peer Connectors”.
