Good Mood Cafes: Where Community, Conversation and Connection Come to Life

Are you experiencing low mood, or do you just need to see a friendly face? Our Good Mood Cafes are here for you – welcoming weekly sessions held across the region, offering supportive spaces where you can drop in, meet others, and enjoy a relaxed chat over a cuppa.

These sessions are safe, social, and uplifting. Whether you’re up for a conversation or just want to sit among friendly faces, you’ll always find a warm welcome!

What Are Good Mood Cafes?

Our Good Mood Cafes are informal, drop-in spaces designed to bring people together – no booking, no pressure. They’re all about connection, conversation, and community. Whether you’re navigating difficult times or simply looking to meet new people, these sessions can be a gentle boost for your mental wellbeing.

Held in local venues across the region each week, they offer a chance to:

  • Connect with others in your community
  • Share experiences or simply listen
  • Enjoy some positive company
  • Access useful resources and friendly signposting if needed

Real Stories, Real Impact

Aaron’s Story:

“Every Thursday, at The Farmers in Yaxley, I have the privilege of attending the Good Mood Cafe. From the start, I was offered support in many areas of my life. I’ve seen shy individuals – including myself – come out of their shells, make friends, and gain confidence.

As someone who is neurodivergent with sensory challenges, I often feel unsure of myself. But Shannon (one of the Good Mood Cafe facilitators) and the other attendees are unfailingly friendly and supportive. This cafe has become more than just a meeting place. It’s a community where I feel safe, accepted, and never judged.”

Danny’s Journey:

“When I first came to a Good Mood Cafe in St Ives four years ago, I was really struggling with depression and anxiety. I felt completely isolated.

Now, I attend the Yaxley group every Thursday – and even on days when I feel down, it gives me a reason to get up. It’s a place where I can talk and feel part of something.

I often show up in fun outfits, tell jokes, and try to spread some joy – and in return, I feel lighter too. It’s a two-way street where everyone benefits.

If you’re unsure, just pop in – it might be the best thing you do for yourself.”

Come Along – We’d Love to See You!

There’s no need to book or prepare anything – just come. Our Good Mood Cafes are open to everyone, and we’re always happy to see new faces. Whether it’s your first time or your fiftieth, you’ll find a friendly, understanding environment that makes you feel at ease.

So grab a mug, pull up a chair, and join the conversation.

We recently visited The Farmers Good Mood Cafe in Yaxley, Peterborough. In this blog, we hear from John and Alvin who have experienced mental health challenges and they share how the Good Mood Cafes can help you when you feel like you’re not coping. We also caught up with CPSL Mind volunteers Teresa and David Baker, to hear how volunteering at the Good Mood Cafes is so rewarding.
