Mental Health Awareness Week is a week-long campaign that takes place every year in May. This year it takes place 11-17 May 2026 and highlights the importance of good mental health, challenges stigma and promotes practical actions people can take to support their own wellbeing.?It’s?one of the most high-profile public health campaigns in the UK, reaching millions of people through media, workplaces, schools, and community events.
CPSL Mind will be using the theme ‘Moments of Joy’ to unite with the community and is running events in Cambridge, St Neots, Peterborough and South Lincolnshire throughout the week.
CPSL Mind is the chosen charity partner at an exclusive community workout ‘Move For Mind’, which is part of the wider BAF Games event hosted and organised by online training platform Built Around Fitness.
The FREE to attend event welcomes everyone of all ages (Juniors 8+) and all fitness abilities. Built Around Fitness is inviting local people to make a donation when signing up to support CPSL Mind’s vital work.
It aims to bring the local fitness community to Cathedral Square on Saturday 16th May. It promises to be a high energy day full of strength, conditioning, competition and collaboration.
CPSL Mind will have its blue gazebo on the square to raise awareness of its services and encourage important conversations about mental health and wellbeing. The event has been sponsored by Peterborough based company, Ark Fire Protection Ltd.
The need for community mental health support has never been greater. 1 in 4 people experience a mental health challenge in any given year.
CPSL Mind works collaboratively across its communities, delivering strengths-based services and initiatives that support recovery from mental health challenges and promote positive wellbeing. The charity directly supports over 8,000 people each year and connects with many thousands more through campaigns, training and fundraising events.
The Move For Mind workout session will take place at 9:30am-10:30am and participants can expect a bodyweight workout. No equipment needed!
You can expect an energising session that works the lower and upper body and core. Personal trainers Georgia and Nadine will support participants, so whether you’re up for working out with friends, family, or your children, everyone is welcome to join in!

Physical activity has lots of benefits for our mental and physical wellbeing. It can help with things like:
- Managing stress, improving sleep, improving your mood, improving confidence, socialising and meeting new people.
- Managing symptoms of depression and anxiety.
- Memory and brain functioning.
- Supports Heart, muscle and bone health.
- Reduces the risk of developing some long-term health conditions, such as heart disease.
Ashley Bunn, Chief Executive of CPSL Mind, said, “We are involved in a number of fitness challenge events, including the Great Eastern Run here in Peterborough. One of the Five Ways to Wellbeing is to be active – so we are delighted to be working in collaboration with Built Around Fitness and it’s fantastic to have a dedicated Move For Mind community workout session, which supports our vital work. We are a local and independent mental health charity and money raised locally, stay local. A huge thank you to everyone involved in making this positive event happen on Mental Health Awareness Week and Good Luck to everyone taking part on the day!”
Olivia Hubbard, Communications and Engagement Manager at CPSL Mind said, “Our theme for Mental Health Awareness Week is Moments of Joy and I have experienced the joy exercise can bring to people’s lives. Over the years, we have had a number of incredible fundraisers who have chosen to pursue a sporting challenge to raise funds for us, and it’s been amazing to be part of their achievements. For me personally, I am part of a local running group and attend yoga classes. I have recently taken up netball again. I am looking forward to taking part in the Move For Mind workout session – which promises to be a fun and inclusive workout for all the family! Thank you for supporting CPSL Mind on Mental Health Awareness Week 2026!”
Jack Clarke, Founder at Built Around Fitness, said, “Our ethos as a business, and as a group, is always to try and enhance people’s wellbeing through physical activity and we know that that is going to happen in May at our inspiring event. Working in collaboration with CPSL Mind will help to raise awareness of local mental health services and people will know where to turn to if they are going through a challenging time. Physical activity and mental health are collaborative. Thinking about CPSL Mind’s theme ‘Moments of Joy’ – exercise certainly gives me moments of joy. Also, some of my best times spent in recent years have been seeing people train with us.”

CPSL Mind will be running a number of events during Mental Health Awareness, including in Cambridge, St Neots, Peterborough, and South Lincolnshire, which are focussed on the theme ‘Moments of Joy’. This reflects the work the charity does every day – supporting people on their recovery journey so they can reconnect with the things that bring them happiness and meaning. Whether that’s through music, exercise, art, gardening, or connecting with nature and conversation, CPSL Mind want to help people find their own Moments of Joy within their local communities.
