CPSL Mind is proud to announce the launch of its Youth Guarantee Trailblazer service at the Peterborough Youth Hub, expanding vital mental health support for young people aged 16–24.
The new service forms part of the government-backed Youth Guarantee Trailblazer programme, which aims to ensure that every young person has access to employment, education, training. The service will support young people to overcome barriers to education, employment or training as well as improve their wellbeing.
Cambridgeshire and Peterborough were chosen as one of eight regions across the country to take part in a pilot of the youth guarantee.
There were 3,250 people aged between 18 and 24 claiming unemployment-related benefits in the county in April, according to the House of Commons library, external, a 13% increase on the previous year.
Across England, some 923,000 young people were not in education, employment or training in January to March 2025, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS).
Based at the Peterborough Youth Hub, the service offers personalised one-to-one support to individuals and can connect them with different services, such as health professionals, community sector services and local support groups alongside guidance to further help them manage their mental health and build confidence for the future. Support is free and designed to meet young people where they are, whether they are experiencing anxiety, low mood, stress, or other challenges.
The Youth Guarantee Trailblazer service strengthens the Youth Hub’s role as a focal point of support for young people in Peterborough, bringing together employment, education, and wellbeing services in one accessible space. By embedding mental health support into the hub, CPSL Mind aims to reduce stigma and make help easier to access.
Matthew Restaino, Youth Guarantee Trailblazer for CPSL Mind said: “Many young people face mental health challenges that can affect their ability to move forward with work or education. By delivering the Youth Guarantee Trailblazer service at the Peterborough Youth Hub, we’re ensuring young people can access person centred support that helps them feel heard, supported, and hopeful about their future.”
Young people can access the service through the Peterborough Youth Hub, open 10am – 4pm, Monday – Thursday, by emailing matthew.restaino@cpslmind.org.uk or via referral from partner organisations.
The Youth Guarantee Trailblazer service scheme will run until 31 March 2026.
