Asset Based Community Development

ABCD stands for Asset Based Community Development, an approach which focuses on the skills and assets within a community.

This approach recognises each person has a skill or asset to give and draws upon existing strengths to build a stronger community through social connection, empowerment and the exchange of skills and assets.

As community builders we identify residents in the area who are motivated to take action in their community and support them by connecting them with others in the community who could contribute skills or assets to help them achieve their goal. As residents become increasingly connected to local resources, assets and residents, a stronger, more interconnected and resilient community is more likely to be sustained.

Resilient Together has been designated an ABCD Learning Site as part of the ABCD Learning Site UK Network.
