Mind in Cambridgeshire, the county-wide charity that supports local people in their recovery from mental health issues, has been named Marks and Spencer (M&S) Cambridge’s Charity of the Year.
The retailer will fundraise for the Charity until April 2016, with the aim of raising as much as possible for people with mental health challenges.
Mind in Cambridgeshire provides innovative, county-wide services designed for, and often delivered by, people who have lived experience of mental health issues, promotes wellbeing and campaigns against stigma & discrimination.
Dominika Karpowicz, Marketing Co-ordinator at Mind in Cambridgeshire, said: “We are delighted and proud to have been chosen as M&S Cambridge’s Charity of the Year.
“The funds raised by M&S Cambridge will go towards our local services and projects, continuing to help people within Cambridgeshire who are recovering from mental health issues.”
Richard Cooke, Store Manager at M&S Cambridge, said: “Each year M&S stores across the UK select local charities to support as part of our Plan A commitments. The team and I wanted to show our support to those who may be living with a mental health illness, and we are delighted to be raising money for Mind in Cambridgeshire; a cause that provides vital help to our community.
“Employees at M&S Cambridge have been working hard to organise fundraising activities, including collections, staff bake sales and bag packing, and have already raised over £900. We’re keeping our efforts up over the next few months and have plans to hold a static bike challenge in August, along with helping the Mind store on Burleigh Street to freshen up its window display. I hope the money we raise will make a positive impact on those living with a mental health illness.”
