Volunteering

We offer a variety of volunteering opportunities for people who are passionate about mental health – and we actively encourage people who use or have used our services to get involved.

Volunteers are extremely important in contributing to all areas of our work from Peer Support to Counselling, from Campaigns to Administration and from Fundraising to Communications.

Rachel (pictured right) has volunteered with us for over 15 years and says

Volunteering gives you a purpose. Having a purpose in life is important and valuable and motivates us to do things. I go home and think ‘I’ve done something useful today’.

Campaign Makers

Campaign Makers

We are looking for proactive individuals interested in joining a growing social movement of Campaign Makers to spread the vital STOP Suicide Campaign message.

We want to empower you and give you the tools, skills and resources to make the impact you want to make in suicide prevention.

Examples of ways you could get involved include distributing posters and resources within your local community, sharing our posts on social media, attending local events and/or getting creative with blogs and vlogs. If you want to innovate something completely new then we’d be excited to hear from you too!

We are embarking on an exciting new strategy – underpinned by our determination to fully represent our community and to care for our environment – and we are seeking new Trustees with the skills and experience to help us. This is an opportunity to be part of our team of enthusiastic people, to give, learn and gain new skills and experiences while working to make a difference to lives and communities.

Our friendly, high functioning Board of Trustees brings a wealth of knowledge and talents, but is currently under-represented in the following areas:

  • Equality and Diversity issues
  • Protecting the Environment
  • Finance
  • IT

We are particularly keen to hear from local individuals from ethnic minority backgrounds, the LGBTQ+ community, from the 18-35 year age group and/or anyone who relates personally to a ‘protected characteristic’ under the Equality Act 2010*

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual who have completed, or be undertaking a Level 4 Counselling qualification in addition to at least 30 hours supervised clinical practice in providing talking therapy to clients.

Campaigns and Communications Intern

Campaigns and Communications Intern

As a Campaigns and Communications intern, you will gain experience of content creation, copy writing, planning and analysis to support our digital channels – including Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and two websites. You will be reaching and engaging our diverse communities, sharing advice, resources and information about services to support local people to have better mental health.

This position will give you the opportunity to learn first-hand about communications activity and specific project work that goes on behind the scenes to support the delivery of campaigns and communications in the charity sector. It will provide you with the opportunity to be a part of a dynamic organisation with strong values and a determination to make a difference.
