Trustee Spotlight – Caroline Newman: HR Business Manager
Caroline has been a trustee since November 2015. During her HR career Caroline has worked in a wide range of industries including retail, hospitality and the public sector.
Caroline is passionate about promoting mental health and wellbeing and is currently the HR lead on the Clinical School’s wellbeing programme.

CPSL Mind is looking for committed capable and compassionate people from across Cambridgeshire to help make a difference.
We are a mental health charity committed to helping people facing difficulties with their mental health and supporting them on their road to recovery. We provide extensive day services and other mental health services across the county under major local authority contracts, with an emphasis on peer support. Every year, one in four of us will experience a mental health problem. We campaign extensively to tackle stigma and raise awareness of the need for everyone to look after their mental wellbeing.
Trustees play an essential role in the running of CPSL Mind. Your role will be to part of a diverse Board responsible for determining the strategy of the charity, taking major decisions, and ensuring the charity acts within the law and within its own regulations.
We are especially keen to hear from people with skills or experiences in one or more of the following:
- Mental health policy, services or practice
- Financial management
- Health and Safety/ Risk Management
- Legal matters
- Human Resource management
- Working within diverse communities
- Voluntary work
The Board meets monthly for two hours alternating between our offices in Cambridge and St. Neots. The meetings are informal and are always lively! Trustees are also required to join sub-committees of the main Board. Currently there are sub¬committees for governance, quality and performance, finance and resources. Trustees will also be invited to participate in additional training as required.
